I have been on quite a journey the last 18 months since I got serious about losing weight. I have been a member there for nearly 3 years and joining that club has been the best decision I've made in a long time.
I weigh in once a week as part of my weight loss efforts. One week recently, I was simply amazed when I stepped on the scale. I'd lost 6 lbs. in one week bringing my total weight loss to 120 lbs. I was stunned...so stunned in fact that I was sure the scale had malfunctioned. I reset the weights and stepped off and then stepped on again. The scale came to rest at the same exact spot and my jaw dropped. It was for real. It was true progress!
Phyllis Hanson, the Fitness Director at Innovative and my personal trainer, had told me from the moment I started this that if I persisted I would get to a point where the weight would melt off of me. I hit a streak like that last fall....just in time for the holidays where I dropped weight every week with very little effort that got me down from 40 to nearly 100 lbs lost. Then I started to struggle again and played with 3 lbs. for about 10 weeks. I went to Phyllis in frustration and we tweaked some things. She helped me change up my diet and gave me a new weight training routine and dragged me kicking and screaming to a group training class. It upped my game and shocked my system and now I've entered a phase where I'm losing again and my body is taking on a whole new shape. Muscles are firming up in places I never even knew I had muscle.
If I can continue this new trend like the one I experienced at this same time last fall, I will be at my final goal by spring and definitely no longer shopping for clothes in the plus sizes.
