Golfers tend to have a lot of issues with low back pain. The problem with golf is that it involves you getting your body into positions that the back is not designed to get into. This causes wear and tear on your discs and joints. And golfers want to hit the ball farther so they will try to swing with too much power.
So how do you avoid back pain when golfing?
-
Increase the strength and control of abdominal muscles or core control which work to keep your spine in place when you get into the extremes of the golf swing
-
Make sure to have flexibility in the hips especially into extension and rotation
-
Make sure to have flexibility in the rib cage to allow the rotation needed for the golf swing
-
Strengthen the glutes (butt) as loading the hips and core is what gives the power for the golf swing
